KEEP AN EYE ON BLACKWATER SAN DIEGO

Okay, we are inbetween shootouts here and excessive heat, and sorry, this is a couple days old news, but Blackwater just might not be able to pull off the Otay Mesa deal, thanks to on the ball (where would we be without them?) Bob Filner and
Scott Peters.

I'm still curious about the San Diego Development Services Department and City staff members who initially approved this. Do ya think maybe they are friends of Duncan Hunter? Of course, everyone smells a rat, and it is difficult for me to believe that these city staff members truely did not know it was Blackwater all along who applied for the permit.

Brian you asshole, let's set the record straight, the opposition to your organization cannot be entirely blamed on anti-Iraq war sentiment. Nobody likes you and everyone hates you because you and your sleezy Praetorian fascist battalions are not only oppressive in your designs to conquer and plunder, but have particiapted in murder and war crimes so ghastly it would make Hitler blush. As the strong armed storm troopers who are highly paid and get away with crimes not subject to any court of law, even on an international level, what are your designs for the future? What potential dictator will you kill and mame for? You are dangerous and your funding needs to be cut off, just like your balls. You are as bad as, if not worse than the Mara Salvatrucha and you are a scourge on the entire concept of Democracy.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg:

NOTHIN LIKE LIVIN IN A FREAKIN WARZONE: BIG TIJUANA SHOOTOUT GRAPHIC PICTURES

Heh guys. I think Dusty was sort of ticked off at me for us not getting together this weekend, but I really have had my hands full here. Our electricity went out this morning about 3:00AM and didn't come back on until around noon, so we had no clue as to what went down in TJ until finally we could turn on the computer. Dusty, this wouldn't have been a good weekend to be here.

But you know what,I don't feel safe here any of the time. We are BASICALLY in a state of Martial Law sans the curfew, and it is fucked up. When is something like this going to break out again? And where? Could be anytime, anywhere.

So, as far as Osuna Millan stating that the press has been overreacting, or exaggerating matters here, that's bullshit.

I'm going to give you a few links, the AFN link has graphic photographs, so be forewarned. San Diego Union did good, and now I see this has hit BBC and MSNBC and CNN.

Okay, have to mention the shark attack at Solana Beach. Why is everyone so surprised? North County has been sharky for ages, all the local fishermen and surfers have always known that. Still, horrible and tragic.

So, here are the links, and I guess this was just another nail in the coffin called tourism:

SAN DIEGO CAVES IN TO BLACKWATER !!!!

This has not been a good day: I had to take my kitty in for emergency cyst removal, the Pennslyvania Primary, my chicken pie crust turned out like shit,my house is a disaster after the weekend, the San Diego Union pulled the Osuna Millan story, and now this.

I suppose we should not be that surprised, San Diego has always been paradise for the good old boy network, and really, I'm wondering just how much Blackwater greased the palms of the city officials?

I hope Bob Filner gives em hell.

Also, the big American sportsfishing event in Ensenada has been cancelled due to fears of violence and unsavory conditions in Baja. In addition, the San Diego Union pulled the story of Osuna Millan's visit to San Diego with his comment that the press has exaggerated events here, and receiving several comments about his comment. Just another fucked story, it is unfortunate that the San Diego Union was pressured to pull the story.

MEANWHILE MEXICAN CONGRESS IS SHUTDOWN AND MAYBE BUSH WON'T BE RETIRING TO PARAGUAY AFTERALL

Distributorcap is going to kill me for using this source, because he ended his subscribtion to them (NY Times) out of protest of shabby reporting, but this is all that was out there tonight - or this morning.

So, a little bit of everything for you guys who are watching the Mexico and Latin American political ball bounce around.

First up, the Mexican congress has been shut down and this will be just really interesting to watch in particular if a public referendum is called, I don't think that is likely, but I might be wrong. Anti-Obrador forces are comparing him to Hitler, and the Obrador forces are outraged. The thing that strikes me is the absolute raucus drama including fist fights which actually break out on the congress floor. But I have to tell you, I would have loved to have seen Senator Leahy slug Dick Cheney when Cheney told Leahy to "fuck off" - or did he say "fuck you"? I think he said "get fucked." Pow pow, right to the kisser. Well, I guess leahy was lucky Cheney didn't have his gun with him that day. Maybe that's why Leahy didn't do anything, he was afraid he might be shot. Dream on, it seems only hot blooded Latins know how to express their passion in congress, and it is wild.

From the New York Times:

Oil Bill Protest Shuts Mexican Congress

TEXT

John Ross's perspective on Mexico and Latin America should never be taken with a grain of salt. Just as Stratfor is able to clue us in on strategic details and events in the region, Ross, whether you like his politics or not (and I know alot of you do not) offers an insight into the real chess game going on in Latin America. My Mexican neighbor says the future is in Africa, but I disagree, I think it's going to be happening here, maybe I'm wrong.

Take a deep breath you conservatives, and give it a read. And maybe Bush won't be retiring to Paraguay afterall, we'll see:

HAS GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS BEEN FUCKING HILLARY ??

I don't really know, but maybe Charlie Gibson has. I mean, how else can one explain the great tabloid "debate" tonight ? What a waste of time and energy - wait a minute, what happened to you know, the real issues like torture, the economy, trade, health care ? Oh, almost forgot, Iraq.

What we got for the first part of the show was a ridiculous attack on Barack Obama by Hillary's ABC boyfriends; a ludicrous attempt to try to tie Barack Obama to the Weather Underground, and Hillary resolutely determined like some crazed madwoman to not let this go - for in truth, there is nothing there - she was a characterature of something straight out of the Scarlet Letter, a puritanical finger pointer on a witch hunt and it was revolting.

Well, you know what they say about puritanical finger pointers. They have weird sex. Must be true, look at her company; George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson. I mean, gross me out to the max. I heard afterwards the threesome went over to the White House and ate cake with Bush and the Pope, no shit.

I Take It Back.....Adios Mulege

Originally when we moved here, the plan was to spend half the year up here and half the year down in Mulege when Mike retired. I can't even tell you how many times we camped under that Palm tree at Playa Coyote, oh, how absolutely beautiful. Now, of course, all of that has changed. Infact, we kept saying and thinking, well it's OKAY down there, it can't be as bad as it is up here, it just can't be.

Wrong. Just a short while back, an American was murdered after he pulled off the road to camp down in Mulege. Now, this. I don't know all of the details, but apparently a small plane belonging to Americans was hijacked by armed gunmen. MEXICO TRAVEL ALERT WARNING ISSUED BY US STATE DEPARTMENT

First, I'd like to say thank you to the US State Department, it took awhile but so what, thanks you guys.

As covered by the LA Times, FOLLOW THE LINK TO GET THE FULL REPORT FROM THE STATE DEPARTMENT:

TEXT

Okay, so here's a HOT HOT tip: set your computer to get Mexico Demonstrations News Alerts from Google to be sent to your email, and you can get all the latest news reports and links, plus the recent report, "Mexico Security Memo:April 14, 2008" from Stratfor which includes a daily run down of events, including another wild west shooting in Rosarito (which I didn't know about at all) and the murder of the two journalists in Oaxaca. I'd put the whole article up, but I'm not a member so I can't link. Guess I better shell out the 30 bucks a month to get access, these guys are on the ball.

On Edit, I noticed alot of you were doing the search for the Strafor Report which I mentioned. You have to get the Mexico Demonstration Google alert to your email FIRST, then go to the first article on the State Department (I know, it's a rednecked periodical it looks like to me) and you will see, "See All Topics On This Subject", hit that and it will take you to all the news, from Reuters, everywhere. Scroll down and you will see the report. I tried to link this, but couldn't, so here are some highlights, and this is just from the past few days and these are ONLY the Baja Norte events in our area, many more throughout Mex:

" April 7:

- Gunmen traveling in a vehicle fired several shots at a government building in Rosarito, Baja California State.

- The body of a federal agent who had been kidnapped the day before was found in Tijuana Baja California State, with a gunshot wound to the head and signs of torture.

April 9:

- Four suspects were detained following a firefight outside a police station in Tijuana, Baja California State.

April 10:

- A Baja California state police officer died after he was shot by several armed men while he was driving to work in the border city of Mexicali.

April 12:

- A deputy police chief in Tijuana Baja California state was wounded along with a bodyguard after they engaged a group of armed assailants that entered his home, presumably to assasinate them. At least 2 of the gunmen were lkilled. The attackers reportedly arrived at his home during a child's party. "

Okay, so everyone be careful out there.

It's pretty much gone to shit here, so much for living on the beach.

Keep in mind, that the numbers of the original "surge" were vastly increased from 30,000 to 75,000. This reduction Petraus is talking about in late July could really be a redeployment elsewhere. And above all else, remember that they are all liars.

On edit: Again will not be around today(Wednesday) or tomorrow, but here is a fav's breakdown of events:

When/How will it end?

"Yet Petraus's response to this question - a unified, independent, and stable Iraq that is an ally in the global war on terrorism -- is more elusive today than it was when President Bush's military escalation began in 2007."

RUN WITH THE BITCH YOU ASSHOLE:CONDI RICE VP ??!!

There has been alot of talk around lately that Condi Rice just might be Mc Cain's running mate. Of course, that's all it might be, is just talk, but it tickles me. Why? Because for years and years now Condi has been squawking for stability throughout the world along with Democracy at the same time, and she has failed miserably to accomplish either goal. Her tenure has been a complete failure, her cold war mentality is archaic and to say she is a complete Bush sycophant is putting it rather mildly, she has kissed his ass and lied repeatedly over the years. Now, a pause might be, and I say might be, over her non-aggressive stance towards Iran, but for all we know, that could be just bullshit too. Why, suddenly, out of the blue should the woman who looked us in the eye and said for sure that there were weapons of mass destruction and lied about the events leading up to 911, bungled foreign diplomacy time after time, should we believe that she is at odds with the hardline neo-con intent to attack Iran? She has always been a hard line neo-con.

Could McCain be that much of an idiot to run with a person who had a major part in running our country into the ground, a co- architect of murder, chaos, torture, a war criminal? Well, let's hope so, because if he does, he is going to get his ass kicked, and hopefully Condi the cunt after a sound defeat will just disappear and never ever again be a part of public service. Maybe she can get a job working for the Saudis. BETTER YET, MAYBE SHE CAN GET ANOTHER OIL TANKER NAMED AFTER HER, BE ABOARD WHEN IT SINKS AND BE LOST AT SEA IN AN OCEAN OF BLOOD AND OIL.

On the other hand, this could all just be so Machiavellian, McCain won't choose Condi, and never had any intention of doing so -and by not doing so, it will be an attempt to assure the lost souls of the GOP Party that he is breaking ranks with the disastrous Bush regime. Never know, these Rethugs are desperate to maintain control and will do anything, could all be just a game.

That's Right

Finally, some pretty good coverage of what Martin Luther King was all about, it's about time. Martin Luther King was a radical, which people usually don't like to talk about too much, but he was. We get the watered down version year after year, the obigatory exerpts cut from his 'I have a dream' speech, oh maybe we'll get a couple of shots of people being hosed in Mississippi during the sixties, but that's about it.

Let's take a looksie at the headlines of the past couple of days: Bush "overrules" EPA and other laws on the books with a sweep of his hand in order to build the fence along the border with Mexico, the Senate - the GOP and Democrat sellouts to the big bankers fuck the people again and drops the bankruptcy aid from the housing plan - inotherwords help is not on the way for desperate homeowners to assist them in keeping their homes, gas prices at an all time new record high, 80% of the American people are freaked out over where we are going as a nation (too bad you guys didn't get your shit together and impeach Bush & Cheney and send Pelosi to the garbage dump where she belongs), more troops are being deployed to Afghanistan instead of coming home, 80,000 more jobs slashed, huge icecap meltdown in the Artic, the new talk now is that people are going to start defaulting on their car loans, so no car, no home, groceries are over the top, guess you'll have to buy a cheap can of pork & beans and heat it up over a wood fire because you just cannot afford to pay the heating bill - it's going to shit people !

Looks to me like we need about 100 more Martin Luther Kings to inspire the American people to get off their asses and do something to change this instead of rolling over and playing dead.

REMEMBER THE URANIUM ?

We heard alot about it a few weeks back, and believe me, I am no fan of FARC, but this just goes to show ya that it seems unless PBS does a special program on the actual facts of an event after the fact, we're sort of left in limbo regarding all of the details. WHERE HAVE ALL THE POETS GONE ?

A generation and a half ago, I remember the hotest courses to take were in the Liberal Arts - film as literature, rock n roll as poetry, creative writing, English Literature, American Literature, Oriental Literature, the list went on forever and we were young and idealists, purists really, and we tried to grasp Garcia Lorca and John Donne and James Joyce and the nineteenth century poets sipping coffee out of styrofoam cups or laying on the beach lulled by the sound of the waves and the beat of the pentameter whose lines were blurred by the hot sun and sand which crept in between the pages of soft covered books. What a shock when the emphasis turned to technology and business administration, alot of us were caught dreamy eyed with our pants down, how are you going to pay the rent with a degree in English Literature?

Sometimes I wonder what happened to the dreamers, the gifted ones, where did they go?
Was it all just a phase, a flashpoint in time gone forever now?

Nope. For your reading pleasure, I give you two very talented and gifted writers. By gosh, they live !!

PUNTA BANDA EARTHQUAKE ACTIVITY & SAN CARLOS HOTSPRINGS

Hi, it is late here, just got in and have to get up really early, but someone from LA keeps doing a search for Punta Banda Earthquake Activity. As far as I know, there has been no earthquake activity in Punta Banda, but you might want to check the UCSD records on that, I'll find the link and post it for you.

The Aqua Blanca Faultline runs on the spine which goes out to La Buffadora, but as far as I know, it is dormant (??!) or so I've been told. At any rate, that is why there are hot springs on the beach and out in the water.

Many great hotsprings inland, some rustic, others a bit more developed. To get to one of the best, San Carlos, take the road east by the golf course and follow the river about 45 minutes inland and you will have one heck of a treat - great camping, pack everything in including your drinking water, it's safe, all the Mexican families go there, showers, firepits, wonderful. Don't freak out, you will cross the river about a thousand times, no biggie. Last time we were there, no dogs allowed. There is a fee, don't know what it is now. Plus, just as you enter, you will pass by the historic old Hussong Ranch, lovely.

Have fun, nows the time to go, later part of summer gets awful hot and danger of fires.

Take us with you, heehee just kidding. I've always wanted to put a little trailer out there.

SUGGESTION TO THE BARS IN ROSARITO

I am running late here, so once again, this is going to be a quickie. I know I complained about the bars in Rosarito playing the music too loud. Well, actually there is alot of music that I like played loud. The choice of music which the bars in Rosarito use is just plain crap, I mean, who listens to shitty disco music? Lighten up you guys, if you are going to play music loud, then at least play some decent rock'n roll, and tune in down over by the church, will ya?

May I suggest some rock en espanol? Wow, that way you're not being whores to the Gringos, plus, you will be making the Mexican kids feel good about themselves, DUH.

Let's start off with this one:

TEXT

And some decent Ranchero too, shoot, throw in a little Bob Marley, whatever. I guarantee you, the touristas would love it, it would make them feel like they are really in Mexico instead of Gringolandola. You would have people dancing in the freakin streets.

Now, that would be cool.

P.S. 86 the go-go girls dancing on the truck, I mean c'mon guys, that's not what Mexico is about, plus it's tacky. Thanks. You've taken out all those little shops over by the Rosarito Beach Hotel, okay, so now you have a plaza, do something with it, have some folklorico dancers or something cultural, maybe some good mariachi groups, but get with the program. The reason Americans come down here is to escape the bullshit in the States, not to get a crappy dose of it. Heh, thanks guys, now you're cookin with gas. Viva Mexico !
