11/18 VIOLENCE TIJUANA REPORT FROM RGE SAYS THE VIOLENCE HAS AND WILL INCREASE

DRUG RELATED EXECUTIONS GRAPH FROM RGE:

Here is a report which you may find interesting and valuable, and Schtulmann explains why we haven't been seeing very many reports on the drug war in the US press - the Mexican government asked them to cool it to get the touristas back:

Drug Violence Reaching a New Pinnacle
by, Alejandro Schtulmann

TEXT

Okay let's do the updates starting with today:

- El Vigia is reporting the parents of little Karem will be initiating a lawsuit for wrongful death against Caminos y Puentes Federales. The El Vigia article states five other cars were attacked the same day as Karem's parents, AFN and El Mex are stating that six other vehicles were attacked on the Scenic Highway on the same day, although the exact locations and kilometer marks have not been made public. Good luck.

- All agencies are reporting the Mexican Army seizes two tons of marijuana at the checkpoint K41.5 on the Mexicali-Tijuana Highway, one man arrested. The dope was hidden underneath boxes of cereal.

- Frontera is reporting that 15 agents of the SCDO (Specialized Care Unit of Kidnapping of the PGJE) are receiving a course in anti-kidnapping techniques by specialists of the FBI. The focus is on investigating and resolving kidnapping cases; the agents will be provided training in surveillance and monitoring. The objective of this training is to update and assimilate new knowledge to strengthen the fight against kidnapping specifically in BAJA CALIFORNIA. The course is being funded by the US government.

- All agencies are reporting[Frontera says three men, El Mex says 20 men] who were masked and armed jumped a fence and kicked open a door to a house in Rosarito Beach and interrogated a family looking for someone called "Guicho". The earliest report of this event was from Frontera whose reporters were not sure if these men were soldiers. AFN and El Mex say they were, the family is distressed. Well, it's a war folks, shit happens.

11/17:

- Frontera is reporting that a group of men armed with shotguns wearing tactical blue uniforms forced employees into the bathroom of the 7-11 on Avenida Javier Mina, colonia Buenos Aires Norte while they attempted to steal the ATM machine. The assailants were not successful, however there have been no arrests.

- AFN initially reported this story as a possible kidnapping in the Zona Rosa, Tijuana, but it was disclosed by authorities that it was no kidnapping; the anti-kidnapping unit of the PGJE swooped in and arrested a man suspected of being a kidnapper.

- El Mex reports in colonia Joyita, ENSENADA, agents of the Base de Operaciones Mixtas (BOM) seize 349 grams of crystal.

- All agencies reporting one man found executed behind the Colegio de la Frontera Norte (COLEF) just down the road. All agencies are saying, although authorities have not issued a statement yet, that this man was a smuggler.

- El Mex reports another attempted robbery of an ATM machine at the gas station Valle Redondo on the Tijuana-Tecate free road by two armed men. The men broke the glass window, put a chain around the ATM machine and tried to pull it out but were unsuccessful. No arrests so far.

- El Mex reports the State Preventative Police have been busy, arresting two women involved in vehicle theft, another man arrested for vehicle theft and have recovered seven vehicles.

- Arrests by the Tijuana Municipal Police from El Mex:

- TMP arrest two armed men who had just robbed the gas station, "Gasmart", on Via Rapida Oriente.

- TMP capture and arrest two more armed men who had just robbed the grocery store, "Lourdes", no colonia given.

- Another arrest by TMP of a man who had just stolen a vehicle on Blvd. Diaz Ordaz.

- From El Vigia - and I'm just going to add that link because so much has been happening down that way - In SAN QUINTIN, Mexican Army seizes 400 kilograms of marijuana, one man arrested and also seized were two vehicles, three rifles, one magazine, thirty three bullets and two communications radios. On the beach at PUNTA COLONET Mexican Army arrests one man with a 357, twenty three cartridges, a 16 gauge shotgun, a 9mm, a .38, and a 30-30. He was looking out to sea with binoculars when arrested. Also, not in this link but another US citizen arrested with outstanding warrant, this time in Valle de la Trinidad, ENSENADA. His warrant goes back to 2006 from Arizona for sexual assault against a minor. When you go to El Vigia, be sure to hit the El Valle link.

11/17 VIOLENCE TIJUANA OOPSIE MEET MY NEIGHBORS SAN ANTONIO DEL MAR

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD......

I am only going to do this one story tonight and will catch up tomorrow. All agencies are reporting in San Antonio Del Mar this morning the Mexican Army arrested four men in a house on Cantil with weapons and dope based on an anonymous tip. One of these men is a US citizen, Ricardo Valenzuela Lizarrga, aka "El Richard", from Los Angeles, California.

Also seized were eleven rifles, six handguns, fifty eight magazines, one fragmentation grenade, more than two thousand rounds of ammunition, sixteen kilos of marijuana, three kilos of crystal (although Tijuana Press says this was five kilos of chemicals to produce the drug), four vehicles, tactical equipment including two police uniforms, three bulletproof vests, a jacket and sweatshirt bearing the insignia of the PGR and $18,573 dollars in cash.

This is the third set of armed men arrested in the community of San Antonio Del Mar. They must like the view.

Okay the coast is clear everyone, back to the beach. Thank you Mexican Army !

EDIT 11/18: HAHAHAHA once again the Baja Nomads are linking to me, I assume they don't appreciate black humor. Or perhaps they are saying it isn't true that this has happened here in SADM three times.

I don't know, because I'm not looking at their link !

Well, it's true, lookie, here are the two other times:

Numero Uno:

Sorry, AFN has taken down their link to this event, but here it is in the narcotijuana archives, and for some weird reason, the reporters say that SADM is in Rosarito Beach. Of course, it is not:

11/16 VIOLENCE TIJUANA AND YOU THOUGHT BLVD. 2000 WAS BAD.....

One event which was just reported a short time ago by Frontera, an attempted assault on a gas station on calle Cochimies and Via Rapida Oriente, Tijuana, which leads to a shoot out between the assailants and Tijuana Municipal Police, leaving the assailants wounded. This is a early report, at about 8:55PM none of the other agencies have picked this up yet, so the facts may change, but Frontera is saying it is possible the assailants might belong to some police corporation. Watch the links on this one.

11/17 EDIT: ALL AGENCIES REPORTING THE ASSAILANTS WERE NOT PART OF ANY POLICE CORPORATION.

Elizabeth Vargas writes today in El Vigia that the Tijuana-Ensenada Scenic Highway which has been in the news recently because of little Karem, is simply put, expensive and dangerous. Karem was hardly an isolated incident, Ms. Vargas states that between 2007-2009 there have been fifty six (56) attacks on motorists which have been documented. Officially, this information has never been released by the authorities, but somehow Ms. Vargas put her fingers on documents which disclose criminal acts at specific kilometer markings on the Scenic Highway. So let's take a look.

These attacks, according to Ms. Vargas, include three murders, one rape and five kidnappings; the remainder have been robbery, some of those robberies with violence. According to her sources, the segment of greatest risk are the rest areas at the toll booths, especially the two which are in the town of Rosarito Beach. At booths 35 and 36 there are the highest number of crimes which include cloned policemen who commit violent assaults, and assaults of stolen property.

Other areas of high risk included: Blvd. 2000 at Popotla accounting for four robberies; La Mision in the area known as "cuatro casas" which accounts for four assaults.

In her report, Ms. Vargas has a partial list of assaults on the Scenic Highway by kilometer mark:

K 37: Kidnapping, murder and auto theft.

K-31: Kidnapping

K-34: Kidnapping

K-58: Murder

Toll Booth # 34: 12 assaults reported

Blvd. 2000 y Popotla: 4 cases reported

La Mision: 4 cases reported

Hopefully in the future Ms. Vargas will disclose the other locations and assaults, if she can, so that we will be at least alerted.

La escenica es cara y peligroso

- At least some people are talking about it, but it depends on the interpretation of social events and who you want to believe. The subject is social disruption in Mexico, and El Vigia borrowed a piece from Reforma with extracts of different thoughts from experts on this social issue. Some experts are dismissing it, some are calling it instead of social disruption, "social implosion", and others are saying the ingredients are present for social disruption but there does not seem to be a catalyst.

The thinking of Santiago Creel, the Mexican Senator representing the right of center National Action Party and former Secretary of the Interior in Presidente Fox's cabinet seems to be the standard accepted version of events. Santiago Creel has in the past caused ire especially in the Bush administration regarding his views on immigration, and although I disagree with many of his past statements, I do agree on a guest worker program. But we're getting off the subject. Here is what Santiago Creel thinks about the subject of social disruption in Mexico:

" We have disturbing elements[in our society]. One is the increasing poverty level which has added six million more poor people, the unemployment rate is at 6.4 per cent, a figure close to what we had in 94-95, with an added problem: The safety valve, the migration to the United states, year by year has been closing. That along with the economic crisis which has hit the United States means the job market [for migrants] has markedly dropped. at the same time we have a very serious political situation which is the product of a crippled system where you cannot advance forward with any substantive change because the system itself generates more incentives to veto the actions of adversaries or opponents in congress than to facilitate agreements. It is difficult to believe that in the short term the situation can be reversed. I do not see this as an imminent situation, nor in the short term will these conditions produce a social situation of violence - but what I do see is the accumulation of all of these combined [social]problems reaching limits which we have never seen before."

And there are more thoughts, something for you guys to discuss at the dinner table. Here is the article:

-Frontera reports in the Zona Rio, two men, ages 18 and 19, arrested by Tijuana Municipal Police with vehicle which had been reported stolen from Chula Vista yesterday.

- Seems pretty quiet around here, but not over on Zeta. This report will blow you out of the water, it is a complete antithesis of the official versions of the last two shootings at the Corona Hotel and the El Real Inn in Tijuana. According to Zeta, these attacks were from the Arellano-Felix Cartel (CAF) in response to Federal Agents stealing 300 pounds of crystal from members of organized crime. Zeta states there are two versions of where the dope was taken from; on Friday November the 6th, one account says it was taken from the airport, the other says it was taken from a home which was raided. According to Zeta, the first attack on the Corona Hotel was a warning to the GOLPES agents who had just arrived. BTW, GOLPES are the Grupo de Operaciones Especiales, a crack tactical group of the Federal Preventative Police. After this shooting, Zeta states that the the pursuit of the organized crime members produced no major results, and more or less describes the investigation as a dog and pony show.

The second attack on the Hotel Real Inn where the GOLPES agents had moved to was well warned of in advance according to Zeta. And, Vicente Lagunas, according to Zeta, is not just a relative of the someone on the Federal Police force, he is a Federal Agent, the head of a special operations group. Again, the investigation of this shoot out according to Zeta, was minimized.

Zeta continues its report by listing an assemblage of recent connections between the Federal Police and the CAF, the article is listed under the Zeta link below, "Federales Robaron Droga", edicion # 1859. Well, that made me feel real safe.

Maybe the reason it has been so quiet around here is that they gave the dope back.

11/15 VIOLENCE TIJUANA SCENIC HIGHWAY CLAIMS THIRD VICTIM

AND...AMERICANS ATTACKED AT CIELITO LINDO:

The news no one wanted to hear which disgusted and stunned everyone: little Karem died from the injuries she sustained from the rock throwing incident last week on the Scenic Highway. According to El Mex, this will have been the third person killed on the Scenic Highway by rock throwers.

Updates from the past two days:

- All agencies covering the death of yet another Tijuana Municipal Police officer, this was Barajas Marco Antonio Zepeda. In colonia El Florido an assault on an OXXO store - the gunmen were pointing the weapon at employees heads when Officer Zepeda had just arrived on the scene. Seeing this, he yelled to distract the assailants and fired his weapon which killed one of the attackers. Almost simultaneously, the gunmen who were carrying an uzi opened fire on Officer Zepeda, killing him. The second offender was arrested by Tijuana Municipal Police. The ages of the offenders were 18 and 25, and I mention this because what we have been seeing here is a surge in the violence by young disaffected people.

TEXT

- El Mex reports that employees of the OXXO store in Mariano Matamoros, Tijuana were about to be murdered by a gunman, but the weapon malfunctioned and the gunman and two accomplices were arrested by the Tijuana Municipal Police. Again, these assailants were young people, ages 16,17 and 18. According to employees, the assailants broke into the store, threatened them with a semi-automatic while ordering them to lie face down on the floor, pulled the trigger but the gun did not fire. You have to wonder if the gunman was trying to make points and get aboard one of the organized crime cells here.

TEXT

- All agencies reporting another narco tunnel discovered by the Mexican Army and the State Preventative Police based on an anonymous tip to the 089 number in MEXICALI. Three men have been arrested, one of them is a native of San Jose, California; the others are brothers from Chihuahua and Sinaloa. This tunnel was 6.5 meters deep and 5 meters in length. Unlike the past two tunnels found these past two weeks, this tunnel was sophisticated and included a lighting and ventilation system. Drilling equipment seized at the site was valued at 75K dollars. According to Mexican officials, had this tunnel been successfully completed, it would have gone directly underneath the foundation of the USBP. According to investigations by the OSD and US authorities, the tunnel's exit would have been a supermarket parking lot in Calexico. Still waiting on some video on this one.

- From a bit further south, El Vigia is reporting that three Americans who were camping in the area of Cielito Lindo, San Quintin reported being assaulted by a pair of gunmen who robbed them of cash, credit cards and documents. While you are at El Vigia, check out the notas on the right hand side for more events in El Valle:(The point is this violence is not endemic to TJ and Rosarito Beach and it is not safe to camp, period.)

TEXT

- El Mex reports this last weekend saw a "wave of burglaries" in ROSARITO BEACH, three of those in homes in less than twelve hours in three different colonias and one vehicle stolen in the parking lot close to City Hall. These events happened one day after the Citizen Council for Public Security announced the reestablishment of the program called, "Vecinos Vigilanda."

TEXT

- Also in ROSARITO BEACH, Frontera is reporting in La Barca, a trailer parked outside of the OXXO was robbed while the driver was in the store. No arrests yet.

- AFN is reporting there seems to be conflicting information of where the $2,120,670.00 and arms were found by the Mexican Army. Initially last week if you recall, it was reported on all agencies this cash and the arms were found because of an anonymous tip to the 089 number in a house in Soler, Playas de Tijuana. However, the Mexican Army is now saying this cash and weapons were found almost a week before in the narco tunnel discovered by the airport.

- All agencies are reporting Ayala Vera is out on bail and saying more or less that he is a political victim, targeted by those who don't especially like Hank Rohn.

- AFN reports that hooded and heavily armed men, at least ten of them steal another ATM machine - this time at the Bancomer in Infonavit Presidentes, Tijuana. Apparently they drug the ATM machine with a chain, loaded it onto a trailer which was later found abandoned, no arrests yet.

- All agencies reporting in Loma Dorado, Tijuana, one man found executed, encobijado.

- All agencies reporting in colonia Chamizal, two men attack and shoot 15 year old Jonathan Ivan Alejandre, no updates on his condition yet.

- On 11/13, all agencies reporting three armed men rob another OXXO store in Mariano Matamoros threatening employees and customers. Tijuana Municipal Police were able to subdue and arrest the three men.

- El Mex reports on 11/13, Tijuana Municipal Police arrested one man on blvd. Tres de Octubre,Tijuana, armed with a .22 revolver.

- Frontera reports on 11/13 in the Zona Norte, Tijuana, State Preventative Police capture and arrest two men who had tried to kidnap two women.

- On 11/13, all agencies reporting the Vehicle Theft Unit arrest six members of a violent gang of car thieves operating in La Mesa and San Antonio de los Buenos. The Attorney General's report states that these men (ages 14 - 24) have been linked to five preliminary investigations of vehicle theft and armed robbery.

That's it from here, have a good week everyone.

11/12 VIOLENCE TIJUANA FIVE ARRESTED FOR ROCK THROWING ON SCENIC HIGHWAY ON FORENSIC FOOTPRINT EVIDENCE

EDIT 11/13: Having nothing to do with the rock episode but an update on Sgt. Montanez who was shot at the Ciudad Juarez bar, and you will have to google this one in: (courtesy Fulano)

From Stratfor: (google this in because the link won't come up)

Mexico Security Memo: Nov 9, 2009

~

All that I can say is that is one tough crowd over on Frontera. According to Frontera and El Mex,( BTW today was the first day AFN covered the story of the rock throwing incident(s)) authorities have arrested five people for the assault which left little Karem in serious condition. The location of this event was pinned down to happening by Santini's, which is quite a distance away from the first reported sites. At any rate, authorities are saying the young people under arrest were just throwing rocks for "fun", and the arrests were made possible by forsenic footprints taken in the area.

Arrested were Armando Paredes Angel Ortega, 18 years old and Michelangelo Alejo Torres, also 18 years old. Three other teens were arrested ages 14, 15 and 17.

Still, comments are not supportive of the authorities, in fact this entire episode has become - at least on Frontera - shall we say an exercise in ridicule. Of course, I'm not going to comment over there, they don't much like gabachos.

TEXT

- All agencies reporting in Loma Dorado, Tijuana one man found executed, encobijado.

- And yet another American fugitive caught, El Mex and Frontera report Alex Arnulfo Chavarin Cid, wanted in the USA for kidnapping nailed by the State Preventative Police in Tijuana, he will be handed over to US authorities.

- El Mex reports the Mexican Army seized 2 million 120 thousand 670 US dollars in bills of various denominations and five firearms at a house in Playas de Tijuana. Wow.

- El Mex reporting gunfire exchanged between a puchadora (small time drug pusher) and the Tijuana Municipal Police in the TJ river channel. No police injuries; the puchadora, a 28 year old woman was shot in the leg by return fire.

- El Mex reporting another shooting today on Blvd. Cuacapah, Tijuana. Gunmen were about to rob the BBV Bancomer bank when they spotted Tijuana Municipal Police and fired on them; police repelled the attack, the bank saved from being robbed, however assailants lost in the pursuit, no arrests yet.

- El Mex reporting in ROSARITO BEACH after a foot chase, Rosarito Municipal Police capture and arrest Jaime Jesus (kind of like Jesse James) who was carrying 22 cartridges for an AK-47, marijuana, assorted identifications including a US social security card in the name of MecKech Jason Avery, of Oregon. Heh Jason they found your social security card !

And the fact is, that is all that happened today.

No one here seemed too thrilled about this, it was only reported briefly in El Mex, and did not make the nacional headlines on Frontera:

11/11 VIOLENCE TIJUANA EL TEO LEAVES A MESSAGE ANOTHER ATTACK ON THE FEDS IN TJ

Before we get going here, an announcement was made by Moreno Manjarrez the State Attorney General reported early this morning in Frontera and El Mex regarding the rock throwing incident(s) on the Scenic Highway. According to Frontera, Moreno Manjarrez stated that two people have been arrested in this case which left little Karem in serious condition and the investigation continues. According to El Mex, two adults and three minors have been arrested. But what you need to do is to read the comments( at about 9:30PM there are 58 comments) under the Frontera article and ask yourselves; Entonces, es como justo decir que nadie cree esta historia? (Is it fair/safe to say that no one believes this story?)

TEXT

I'm not quite sure what to make of it, and there has been no update on Karem's condition. The news agencies have made Karem's parents email available if you want to support them in any way: eldiegoverdugo@hotmail.com. If for sure the rock throwers have been arrested, great news. If not, they are probably laying low regrouping.

- Another update of an event which happened yesterday which I missed, the shooting of a migrant in his leg who crossed over in Tecate. In reality according to El Mex,there were six migrants who were assaulted and injured by three armed assailants, not just the one man. The event took place on Cuchama hill in US territory; USBP rushed to the scene, gave first aid and the injured migrant was then taken to a hospital in San Diego. BTW, this is the same area where USBP Agent Rivas was killed.

- All agencies reporting another surprise attack on Federal Agents, this time the Hotel Real Inn on Blvd. Aqua Caliente, where members of the PGR are housed. AFN reports the attack occurred around midnight (other agencies are saying 10:30PM) where armed men in three vehicles opened fire on the hotel and Federal Agents returned the fire. El Mex describes the event: thunderous bursts of guns were heard, and the Federal Agents repelled the attack. Frontera states that no one was injured although bullets entered some of the rooms and large calibre casings were found at the scene.

TEXT

Moreover, El Teo left another narco message specifically addressed to "El Lumpa." El Lumpa according to authorities, is not a Federal Agent but a relative of a Federal Police Chief. AFN's sources are saying that El Lumpa is Vincente Lagunas, and this was a second message to him, the first left at the attack on the Corona Hotel a couple of days back.

Interestingly, because Mexican authorities no longer divulge contents of narco messages, the authorities have revealed the contents of this message which read; "Vincente Lagunas no esta cumplienda con lo que se tiene acorado", or Vincente Lagunas is not doing/complying with what they had agreed on. AFN's sources are saying that an agreement was made between Vicente Lagunas and El Teo that Lagunas provide strategic movements of the Mexican authorities to the organized crime boss...for twenty thousand dollars a month. OMG that is a lot of money.

El Mex reports this message as intimidation against the family member of a Federal police chief, and does not mention the agreement.

- Also last night, El Mex is reporting an incident in poblado La Gloria, Tijuana where witnesses refused to give any information for fear of retaliation, and a warning to people that there are assassins in the area. At 1:30AM El Mex reports the calm was shattered by gunfire. A seafood taquera, "El Esterito" was riddled with bullets from men who arrived in two vehicles killing the owner who goes by the name of "Soto." He was hit eight times, around the body were found forty shell casings of AR-15's and 9mm's. Authorities have not ruled out that the assassins are known in this area since many people who witnessed the execution refused to provide information fearing the same fate as the taco vendor.

TEXT

- Earlier in the evening yesterday around 7:00PM in ROSARITO BEACH,
Frontera reports that subjects wielding automatic weapons (metralletas) driving a sedan hit the gas station located in the Popotla area robbing a customer. Assailants fled south, no arrests yet.

- El Mex is also reporting later in the evening in ROSARITO BEACH there was a mobilization of ten police patrols of the Federal Roads Division with two more unmarked vehicles followed by three units of the Rosarito Beach Municipal Police on a surveillance mission which authorities are calling, "routine."

- All agencies are reporting a raid by the Mexican Army based on an anonymous tip in the El Rubi neighborhood, San Antonio de los Buenos, Tijuana nets four arrests including the leader of this group known as "El Jerry". Also seized was 198 Kilos of marijuana, 8 handguns,1 rifle, 17 magazines, 492 cartridges, 2,260 dollars and 10 vehicles.

- El Mex reporting Tijuana Municipal Police arrest three men in Mariano Matamoros for stealing a man's vehicle at gunpoint; investigations are continuing to connect these men to more robberies. Also, Tijuana Municipal Police arrest five men in process of robbing an OXXO store in colonia Ampliacion Guaycura.

- In ENSENADA El MEX reporting members of the PRD who were cleaning out an arroyo found two hundred bullets neatly packaged, more details as they become available.

- This story was out yesterday, but today El Vigia picked it up: According to El Vigia a fugitive from the US, Carlos Rodriquez who had just killed his cousin in Fresno, California was arrested in PUNTA BANDA. I'm not sure if this was the actual place he was arrested, because the article says he was arrested on Reforma, which is in Ensenada - maybe he was hiding out in Punta Banda? Not a big surprise. Another article yesterday from ensenada.net mentioned he had family in Maneadero.

TEXT

- And finally, El Mex reports yesterday in Washington, D.C., the Mexican Secretary of the Navy, Francisco Saynez met with US Defense Secretary Robert Gates to discuss the Merida Initiative and bilateral strategy to combat drug trafficking. I have not seen this in the US press at all. The original article regards the use of the US Air Force in combating drug trafficking and refers to a current DOD report. (which I've been searching for and sorry I cannot find it so maybe some one out there can link us to it.)

According to El Mex, units of the US Air Force will expand its monitoring functions using radar in counter narcotics and counter terrorist operations, the primary mission is to provide surveillance in the southern US border with Mexico, Florida and the Caribbean. The Commander of the Third Naval Zone of the the Mexican Navy, Sergio Javier Lora said that US air support units will monitor drug trafficking in the Gulf of Mexico.

11/10 VIOLENCE TIJUANA WATCH IT ON THE SCENIC HIGHWAY K38-44 PELIGROSO

KEREM XIMENA VERDUGO BARRERA AGE 2 IN SERIOUS CONDITION:(Courtesy Frontera)

SCENIC HIGHWAY:

Does anyone remember a couple of years back an entire family was arrested down by Primo Tapia for throwing rocks at vehicles, or feigning an emergency and when cars would stop to inspect damage or to "help out", the occupants were robbed at gun and knifepoint? Well, it is happening again.

Three stories all from Frontera, I'll take them one at a time:

- The first is the report on little Kerem Ximena Verdugo Barrera, age 2, who is now is serious condition after being hit by rock throwers on the Scenic Highway @ K-43, just south of Popotla - I think this would be right around Cantilles and El Pescador. Her parents were returning from Ensenada at about 7:30PM on Sunday evening when their vehicle was struck by rocks, and one of those hit the little baby in the head. This morning the parents were asking for help from the community to come forward and denounce the culprits and called on authorities to investigate. They believe they are not the only victims.

TEXT

Frontera ran a shorter version of the same story this evening, with comments from people that this has been going on for quite some time, going back almost two months.

- The second story from Frontera tonight quoted Jose Ventura, the Deputy Commander of the Rosarito Beach Municipal Police who stated that he received three reports of motorists being hit by rocks thrown on purpose on the Scenic Highway between K38-46 immediately
following the 7:30PM Sunday attack on the Verdugo Barrera family. These subsequent attacks occurred between 9:00PM - 11:15PM. The Deputy Commander also said that about a month ago, a police patrol unit was hit and believes these are people (minors) hoping to rob people when they stop their vehicle to inspect the damage. He also indicated that State Police would be taking charge of the investigation.

TEXT

- The third report from Frontera focuses in on the Hernandez family, whose vehicle was struck by rocks a few weeks ago in the same area. When they reported the incident to Caminos y Fuentes at the toll booth, they were told there had been three or four more complaints prior to their complaint on that day alone. The Hernandez incident occurred at around 9:00PM driving from Ensenada to Tijuana on the Scenic Highway, although the report does not give the specific kilometer mark it does say that this attack happened just a short distance after the La Mision exit. After they were hit they decided not to stop, to keep going because of stories they had heard of people getting hit by rocks on Blvd. 2000. The Hernandez family also reported their incident to the Military.

TEXT

- El Mex is stating that Karem's diagnosis from the doctors is bleak because of the severity of the injury. El Mex also states that because of these types of attacks, at least two drivers have been killed, and those crimes have gone unpunished:

TEXT

So, be careful. BTW, these are Mexican families, not touristas(WTF there are no touristas), no one is safe these days it seems. Be sure to read the comments under the articles, how about the one, "BC ya parece tierra de nadie, cualquier loco delinque." (BC seems to be a no man's land (where) any lunatic breaks the law....)

- Frontera reporting that Raul Lopez Soto who was kidnapped yesterday by a gang of people aboard two vehicle in colonia Reforma, Tijuana was dumped at the gates of his house, dead.

- El Mex reports in ROSARITO BEACH 10:00PM yesterday evening two men attack, rob and shoot one man who was shot twice. When Rosarito Municipal Police arrive, two more men tell them they also were attacked and robbed by the same two men. Then, a third man approached the police and said he also was attacked and robbed. No arrests so far, but these guys are armed.

- AFN reports at 6:00AM this morning at least four heavily armed men violently attack mothers who had just left their children off at the daycare center, "Gueppetto" in the zona del central, Industrial Pacifico, Tijuana. Witnesses state the armed men robbed the women of everything on them and threatened to kill them if they called the police. For lack of manpower and units, police were unable to arrive at the scene until two hours after the assault. No arrests so far.

- AFN updates the story of the Tijuana Firefighter who was shot and killed in his home last Saturday: AFN's sources are saying the man had ties to Raydel Lopez Uriarte (The Crutches) and to El Teo. the sources are indicating that there are cloned units of the Tijuana Fire Department used to carry shipments of drugs in the east part of Tijuana, and that organized crime felt that Aquilar James was either aware of or gave information to authorities to "get even" which fueled the Mexican Army raid of Paraisio Azteca on October the 31st.
