HAWAII FIVE-O

Well, I just feel kind of sad because I'm not included with the Jonestown crew. But that's life in the big city and I guess it's because they are not really interested in my sporadic surf reports and weird recipes, or something.
That's okay, but you know what I'd really like to talk about...Hawaii Five-O. I am a Hawaii Five-O junkie, I love Jack Lord, Chin Ho, Danno, and especially Kono. Kono in real life really did surf, and it's a gas to watch him enjoy his food and employ local humor. I feel that Hawaii Five-O was way before it's time and we have yet to see another television cop show that even holds a candle to Five-O. Of course, much of Five-O is dated now, in 1968 we were right in the middle of the cold war, and of course, the Vietnam War. The depictions of the hippies is mostly cornball, and this amazes me since the Banana Patch was in existence on Maui then. Still, the full gamut of topics is hit on, including the environment, terrorism, bad corporate greed, corruption in politics and government, dope and tyrants, not to mention gangsters and espionage. We also get to be timewarped back to when Hawaii was still....sort of nice, it's so crowded these days. It's neat to see all the open space. I remember my first boyfriend wore a bandana around his neck like McGarrett, wow was that slick or what?
Mc Garrett is just such a cool guy, a true renaissance man with a deeply complex personality, an ex military intelligence officer holding the line yet responsive to the sincere efforts of the counterculture and even more than tolerant of cons and social misfits who have made the switch, done their time and attempt to go straight. He is a forgiving man, yet when he shoots, he aims to kill. I wish McGarrett were here now to clean up all of this bullshit that is going on in the world. Too bad life doesn't imitate art.
We are almost finished with Season 2, next up will be Season 3 and then hopefully whoever is releasing the seasons, will release more. Otherwise, I'm just gonna die. Is there something wrong with us? Well, apparently not; there are whole sites devoted to Five-O I'm finding out, I mean, people are really into it big time, total devotion. Maybe I'll go over there and swap stories with the other junkies.
So, book em Danno.
