HAWAII FIVE-O

Well, I just feel kind of sad because I'm not included with the Jonestown crew. But that's life in the big city and I guess it's because they are not really interested in my sporadic surf reports and weird recipes, or something.

That's okay, but you know what I'd really like to talk about...Hawaii Five-O. I am a Hawaii Five-O junkie, I love Jack Lord, Chin Ho, Danno, and especially Kono. Kono in real life really did surf, and it's a gas to watch him enjoy his food and employ local humor. I feel that Hawaii Five-O was way before it's time and we have yet to see another television cop show that even holds a candle to Five-O. Of course, much of Five-O is dated now, in 1968 we were right in the middle of the cold war, and of course, the Vietnam War. The depictions of the hippies is mostly cornball, and this amazes me since the Banana Patch was in existence on Maui then. Still, the full gamut of topics is hit on, including the environment, terrorism, bad corporate greed, corruption in politics and government, dope and tyrants, not to mention gangsters and espionage. We also get to be timewarped back to when Hawaii was still....sort of nice, it's so crowded these days. It's neat to see all the open space. I remember my first boyfriend wore a bandana around his neck like McGarrett, wow was that slick or what?

Mc Garrett is just such a cool guy, a true renaissance man with a deeply complex personality, an ex military intelligence officer holding the line yet responsive to the sincere efforts of the counterculture and even more than tolerant of cons and social misfits who have made the switch, done their time and attempt to go straight. He is a forgiving man, yet when he shoots, he aims to kill. I wish McGarrett were here now to clean up all of this bullshit that is going on in the world. Too bad life doesn't imitate art.

We are almost finished with Season 2, next up will be Season 3 and then hopefully whoever is releasing the seasons, will release more. Otherwise, I'm just gonna die. Is there something wrong with us? Well, apparently not; there are whole sites devoted to Five-O I'm finding out, I mean, people are really into it big time, total devotion. Maybe I'll go over there and swap stories with the other junkies.

So, book em Danno.

ROSARITO TRIES TO RECAPTURE THE TOURISTS

Ah ha, finally I took some video. Hi you guys. This is just a quickie vid of Rosarito from Saturday. We didn't get going until really late, due to chores so we didn't make it down further, next time. However, you can see despite the loud music which is just so obnoxious, the crowds are just not there. There was a motorcycle group at one of the clubs, but that's about it. On the main street right after the photos of the guys trying to get us to come into the taco place were three well dressed men with automatic weapons and flak jackets, but they asked that I would not photograph them, naturally I am not going to argue with automatic shotguns. So, if drinking volumes of cerveza alongside heavily armed security guards is your cup of tea, this is the place for you.

It's just too bad that it is so tacky at that end of town, but it is. Can you imagine if the Mexican gov would have put building codes and noise codes on the books and enforced them, what could have been? The poor little Rosarito Beach Hotel, which was always such a jewel is surrounded by uninviting bars and ugly architecture. There is nothing the Mexicans can really be proud of here, no public park, no cultural center, nothing classy, just bars which cater to the American 20 something market. Too bad Rosarito didn't think this through better, a classy development with infrastructure would have insured a constant flow of American tourists with families instead of what they have now. Still, the honest Mexican businesspeople are suffering thanks to the drug cartels.

ACCORDING TO THE EXPERTS IT AIN'T LOOKIN GOOD FOR THE BAJA BORDERLANDS

Okay, so hi everyone I am really running and will be for the next few days, so what I'm going to do is hook ya'll up with alot of sites, because there is so much going on all over.

First, Mr. George Freidman. Now, if you wiki this site in you will see that many conservatives use Freidman as a source, and right off the bat when I hear the name O'Reily I get kinda sick. What they didn't tell you on wiki is that many left leaning think tanks also use Freidman. Locally, the focus has been on the violence in northern Baja, and it's fair to say that everyone is pretty much flipped out over the situation here. We are hearing spins from all sides, the Mex haters, the Baja Tourist board, the Raza, the Real Estate and other speculator vultures. So, here is Freidman's synopsis, and sadly, I have to agree with him. If you put this on your favs, there is a comment section and you can voice your opinion to Freidman personally, which might be a good idea.

BETWEEN THE LINES

Heh guys, what's happening? Just got back from the States, a long, long day, but I have to tell you in all honesty, no matter what they are saying over at the Baja Tourist Board, there really have not been that many touristas down here, infact, SADM is dead and according to the Agents at the Border, there has not been a high volume of traffic going south. But, we'll see, going to take a day away from here and cruise down the coast and check it out in a couple of days, plus I am dying for some carnitas.I promise to take some video, but of course we won't be in it because I don't want to get killed. Wish me luck because I am a dud at videos, I ruined the entire 4 corners trip.

My Weakness

Okay, just something light here, reading all the blogs yesterday and watching the events of the anti-war demonstrations, I don't know about you guys but I'm drained . So, here's a little relief.

Everyone has their extravagant weaknesses, and mine is that I love antiques, especially antique porcelain. Crazy, huh? I've put together an entire set of Spode's Billingsley Rose which I only bring out at Christmas, and it is an exceptional set, most of it came from London and it survived the Blitz, which amazes me.

I know these are just "things", but sometimes I wonder about the lives of the original owners, and I wonder if they left some kind of invisible trace on these things, hopefully parts of their lives which were hopeful, happy and good. Is that weird? I'd like to talk to some of them about their experiences during different time periods in history, what life was like, what their life was like. I have a really nice celery dish from Silesia, but when I pack it away I put a little vile of holy water with it, because Silesia suffered so much all throughout history. So, even if I can afford it, I avoid some items even though they are drop dead gorgeous, like items from Prussia. And I wonder, why haven't these things been kept in the the family's ? I think that they are lost and need a home.

I love Nippon lamps and vases, and it always amazes me that a culture which was so artistically gifted, could have been so cruel. And Limoges, oh I drool over it.
But one of my most favs is Rosenthal Bavaria porcelain. Of course, there aren't really any anitique shops down here, so I go to ebay.

I've been watching this charger cake plate over there, I think it would look perfect hung in the hallway, but alas the shipping charges are too high. The starting bid on this one is $24.88 and the shipping is $31.60. So I wrote the seller and asked why the shipping charges are so high, the response was that it was because they have to use a larger box. I've bought alot of charger plates from ebay, but never ran into a shipping charge which was that high. Why didn't the seller just put a reserve price on this and charge the normal rate for shipping for cryin out loud ? Who knows, but I'm not going to bid, darnit, too pricey.

Oh well, there's a little salt and pepper shaker set that's going for $9.99, that's more my speed, maybe I'll go for it, my big splurge of the month.

See you guys later, and take care in those floods.

MARCH 19: IRAQ WAR BLOGSWARM

George Bush has claimed that the Iraq War was "worth it". Dick Cheney just made a surprise visit to the troops, the morale they say is low. Neither of them has attended even one funeral of our fallen soldiers. They are voyeurs, demons, ghouls whose thirst for blood and chaos can never be quenched as their bank accounts and the bank accounts of their friends grow each day; and as they check the figures over with their accountants they smile and lick their lips and pat each other on the backs over their fortunes while another soldier's guts are ripped out from him, while another innocent's brains are blown down the street, an arm here, a torso there, a river of blood, mayhem.

There is no redemption. We are drowning in lunacy, the dark ages have returned and have completely enveloped us like a dirty blanket and we cannot breathe, we are choking, we have failed and the devil himself is sitting in the corner laughing.

God forgive us.

MORNING PRAYER OF SAINT PATRICK

The Lorica or "Breastplate" is an ancient Celtic prayer attributed to Saint Patrick.

I arise today
through the strength of heaven,
light of the sun,
radiance of the moon,
splendor of fire,
speed of lightning,
swiftness of the wind,
depth of the sea,
stability of the earth,
firmness of the rock.

I arise today
through God's strength to pilot me,
God's might to uphold me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's hosts to save me
from the snares of the devil,
from everyone who desires me ill,
afar and near,
alone or in a multitude.

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone, take care.

BAJA NORTE MAKES MSNBC HEADLINES

We watched "No Country For Old Men" last night and it scared the shit out of me, I don't know why, maybe because we were also having a thunder and lightning storm which added to the disturbing dimension of the film and we've been living here in Baja Norte for nearly 15 years with the drug violence all around us.

The unfortunate thing about this article is that it fails to mention the attacks (what are we up to now about 100?) on Americans which include rapes, kidnappings, and carjackings. It also fails to mention the raid on the Ensenada Morgue, where two more police officers were killed while the Cartels snapped up a cadaver, probably because he had an chip implanted with important drug information. (He was a high ranking drug cartel member, killed as his heliocopter crashed at the Baja 1000) Nor does it mention the killings down in Maneadero, nor does it mention the slaughter at El Salzul, nor does it mention how every aspect of life down here is run by the Cartels, from the guy who services their vehicles, to the guys who unload the dope, on and on - and we all know that this is due to the fact that the Mexican government does not provide jobs for her people, only slave jobs at the NAFTA imposed Maquiladoras. The article also does not mention the numerous marches against the violence involving thousands and thousands of the good people of Rosarito and Tijuana. This is highly significant, because it demonstrates that the Mexican people are organizing and rising up and screaming at their government, "We are tired of this!!!"

More importantly, the article doesn't even come close to mentioning that the tactics used by the Cartels are the very same tactics used by FARC. Gee, I wonder why? In addition, Ibarra is not the Police Chief, so they got their information confused there. The article also does not mention that we lost Nancy Conroy, the owner and editor of The Gringo Gazette, who was a thorn in the side of organized crime, including bullshit developers down here. It was Nancy who was the predominating force to report the stories of Americans who were ripped off, violated and shook down and worse by the cops. It was a only after years of reporting these incidents that the San Diego Union finally began to take notice and report them.

Meanwhile, the Baja Tourist Board is trying to convince Americans that everything is "okay" here, and that includes Ibarra, but it ain't. One of the consequences of no American touristas means that honest, god fearing and generous legitimate Mexican businesses are going belly up. Still, I don't blame the gringos for not coming down here, it's downright scary.

Why are we still here? We're waiting for my husband to retire. So, all that I can tell you is that there's noone out in the water, and I've been enjoying some very righteous and uncrowded surfing conditions as the bullets whiz by.

I carry my Miraculous Medal with me everywhere.

LINK TO WATCH THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE WINTER SOLDIERS

Just last week, there was a front page article on MSNBC which stated that only 28% of Americans even thought about the Iraq War anymore, the article described the Iraq War as a "distant memory" for most people and went on to add that very few in the United States even realized that we have lost 4,000 GI's, the number may be more this morning, given all the violence that is breaking out in Iraq again, the surge is a defeat.

There is alot of talk around that since the resignation of Fallon, the Pentagon is calculating an attack on Iran. It's possible, never put anything past the Neo-cons or the Neo-libs, the public is in a position of well, we'll see. If the article on MSNBC was correct, that Iraq is a distant memory to 72% of the American people, (which I have a difficult time believing) anything is possible when your senses have become numbed.

I probably should have blogged this event last week, we all knew this coming, but here is a link to the Winter Soldier event with a link and you can still watch the proceeding from today, and BTW, I noticed this event was covered this morning on MSNBC, hopefully more mainstream sources will pick it up :

KEITH OLBERMANN ON FERRARO AND CAROLINA MOON

Hi guys, I am totally exhausted from painting, trying to get things done before the weather gets hot because I can't take the heat. Anyway, didn't think I would make it over here tonight, but here I am.

Of course by now you have all heard or read the Geraldine Ferraro story. Disgusting, isn't it? I'm telling you, this is the old guard hard at work, and god forbid if Pennslyvania or the Super Delegates fall for it, and if they do, we are doomed.

So, in case you missed the Keith Olbermann (who really does remind me of the original Clark Kent, smoochxsmooch I love that man)) comments on the billary and Geraldine, I'll give you the link. And, this is bizarre, but late this afternoon,I had a sudden flash and I swear this is true, but like a bolt out of the blue I suddenly remembered that the song I was thinking of yesterday wasn't Mississippi Moon, it was Carolina Moon. It must have been the enamel fumes. And, this wasn't from the 40's, it was written in 1929, so I'm going to add that to this evenings offerings. We had to learn all those songs on the piano when we were kids. Anyway, I yelled to Mike, "It's CAROLINA MOON !" And of course he looked at me like I had lost my marbles. Well, maybe I have.

Interestingly, during WWII, the title of the song "Carolina Moon" was used as nose art on the B-12's, or the flying fortresses, and on the fly boy's flying jackets - and I didn't know that until tonight, but that explains why my parents loved that song, it was a real fav during that time period.

Ah Keith, the billary IS a Republican and don't advise her to grab the reins, why? So she can be a phoney baloney when I'm sure that she and Geraldine had this conversation and came to this conclusion before. Let everyone see for themselves exactly what she is all about. Here billary, here's a little more rope.

WTF??? $80,000 ON HOOKERS AND HE HASN'T RESIGNED?

Okay, last post for a couple of days unless we have an earthquake, but my god, speaking of earthquakes, this is just totally unbelievable. I received an email this morning from The Salon with the front line topic being Eliot Spitzer. I could not believe the responses which the editors chose, most of these said that they didn't think Spitzer should resign, and Billary has been two stepping around this one all day long. Sorry, I deleted the email, but here are the headlines from tonight's MSNBC, which are going to make you sick:

Spitzer A Repeat Customer

TEXT

Why is this guy prolonging the agony here, this is like a Brittany Spears headline that just won't go away. He broke the public trust, and he knew it, and yet he hasn't resigned? Come on jack, who the fuck does this guy think he is?

There are so many more important things to deal with in the world, and this jerk has been taking up the headlines for the last two days. Get a life Spitzer, and don't hit your ass on the door when you leave.

What? He thinks he can get special dispensation?

Um....$80,000.00 divided by let's say $5,000.00 equals ~~~drumroll~~~ 16 close encounters of the whatever kind, SIXTEEN??? Holy shit, and he hasn't RESIGNED yet? I mean ONE would be enough but this capper takes the cake, no it takes, bakes and ices it.

It would have always been bad, but this guy painted himself as Zorro.

As a Democrat, I am outraged. Oh, nothing new, let's see, Diane Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, Jumpin Joe, Harry Reid, the list goes on and on.

Plus, I'm not putting a picture up of him because I am sick to death of looking at his mug on the frontpage.

Resign already you freakin dork.

BUSH CAN'T BUY HIS WAY INTO HEAVEN IT SEEMS

I don't know how many of you were raised Catholic, I was. Parochial schools all my life, and talking to people my age who went through the same trauma, despite the fact that many of us rebelled against the Church and its teachings and the brainwashing we underwent, one thing we all have in common: a haunting sense that...maybe they were right, maybe there were some things that they were right about. It just sticks with you, you cannot shake it, good or bad. There is a pulling mysticism and old habits (pun) die hard, if they die at all. Still I like to go into old churches when noone is around and just sit and feel the eternity, the peace. I carry my old miraculous medal with me that I received from Sister Peter in 4th grade, and I still do Novenas occasionally. I pray, I even attend Mass. I even have favorite Saints.

I know all the things that the Catholic Church has done wrong thoughout the ages, I think I know them by heart. I don't agree with much of the dogma, infact, I downright resent most of it. But, I have always believed in good and evil and that the very essence of one's eternal soul was threatened by Mortal sin. Now, according to the Church, these would be sins of grave matter with ones full knowledge and complete consent in committing these transgressions - such as murder, pride, lying. I believe stealing is also a grave sin according to the Catholic Church.

We aren't supposed to judge, but I'm only human so forgive me God, but it seems that George Bush has commited all of the above,if not personally, he was responsible, and now, the black marks on his slate according to the new rules set forth by the Catholic Church will include even more trangressions.

From Crimes & Corruption (and I haven't been using this source truthfully because Marc printed a couple articles from Mike Rivero who I think is kind of a rascist, sorry Marc, but that's what I think but thanks for the article)

Bush, Colombia & Narco-Politics

TEXT

Well, I was sorta getting warm, but I thought it had more to do with Uribe and all the missing - or disappeared people.

Oh damn, looks like we will never be able to legalize drugs, create educational and treament centers and use the billions on this phoney drug war for something productive with these clowns running the show. Heh, thanks Bush you freakin retard !!

And here is the spin from Prensa Latina, also BTW, the Ecadorian President made a statement that USA should no longer be involved with OAS, but come on, these guys are all lyin and up to their freakin eyeballs in drugs, this is such bullshit:

TEXT

So, for more updates, just google in Rio Group Summit and hit news.

This is disgusting.

Goodnight everyone.

SECOND EDIT: Added pics of the call girls from today's scandal involving the Gov of New York (who probably should step down, ah hem...) for two reasons: First, Dick Small needs to add them to his archive, maybe he can write something funny about this event. Second, I figured if people knew I had the photos of the call girls, maybe they would read about the dirty birds since this whole BS event with Colombia and Venezuela is not making the news at all...suddenly there is a total blackout and no reporting. Oh well fuck it.

See you guys later.

HELLO WYOMING !!!

Two more good news events, thank goodness. The first, of course, is the Wyoming win by Barack Obama. I know there aren't that many delegates, but what this says loud and clear (to me anyway) is that the good old boys and gals of Wyoming just ain't gonna buy into the Clinton crappola. Now that makes me feel real good.

The second is, I felt very honored to hear from Richard Grabman, who you know is the Wiz of all things Mexico. Now, I don't always agree with Richard, but you must go and check out his blog, especially if you are an Obama fan, you will get a kick out of "La Bamba Redux" and I thought that there were only 2 Mexican students envolved in the raid on Ecuador, but check out Richard's "Field Trip?". I guess my problem is that I neither trust the Colombian Paramilitaries or the FARC, but at any rate, what a blog with all the links. We need to talk about this someday Richard.

Richard's book, "Gods, Gauchupines And Gringos: A Peoples History Of Mexico", will be out he says in a few weeks, so don't miss it. And, he is moving to the mainland Mexico.

Okay, but please be careful Richard, and I still say he should be teaching at Harvard or Yale, or at least working for a think tank. Have a blast Richard.

TWO MORE SAFEHOUSES CLOSED DOWN AND BLACKWATER PULLS OUT

Well darnit anyway, here's some good news finally. Two more safehouses closed down, one located in the Colonia Aqua Caliente, Tijuana; and I need to pull my map out to see exactly where that was. The headlines read that Mexican officials found more than a hundred arms of different calibres, uniforms and other "implements". The reporters used the term 'centenar', not 'cientos de', which I think would have meant hundreds of. I guess the pic above is an example of the ordanance found, wow, how would you like to have one of those aimed at you? No thanks.

Below the headline another safehouse found in La Jolla, ah that wouldn't be Campo La Jolla in Punta Banda would it? You know, the place which even the owner, Mike Pabloff describes as,"...everybody thinks this is paradise until they move here." Heehee.

So, to read the full report, hit INGRESAR A LA INFORMACION, & I'm sure the report will be in soon.

"Truenan" Otro Mas De Las "Casas De Seguridad"

TEXT

So, where are all these weapons coming from? Alot from the USA, but also up from the south, some say the Russian Black Market or the Chinese Black Market who are also involved in the dirty crappy Freon smuggling business.

Are these raids legit, not staged? I think they are for real, BUT...ER...THE BOARD oF TOURISM IS GETTING PRETTY DESPERATE DOWN HERE THESE DAYS.

Really really great news for the residents of Potrero, lookie - Blackwater pulls out:

TEXT

Congratulations to the residents of Potrero who fought this deal tooth and nail, they deserve a standing ovation, bravo. And you guys thought that Southern Californians were just too laid back, heehee.

A word of caution though, watch out for the Blackwater Golums, they are nasty and could very well have something else planned for the backcountry of San Diego County, so watch em like hawks. Not to be trusted, ever.

Have to get back to work, see you guys later.

UPDATE ON US CONSULATE IN TJ

Okay, if you add this link to your favs, you can keep abreast to what is going on in Tijuana,Rosarito and Ensenada, plus check out Sign On San Diego over on the Union Trib, because I am not always here at the computer. You know surfers.

This is an update on the US Consulate in Tijuana: According to AFN 30 units of Mexican Municipal and State Police openly pursued the vehicle with the armed occupants down Diaz Ordaz (over by the La Mesa area). But no arrests were made, they lost them after a "strong search."

In a separate incident there was another clash between the Mexican State Preventative Police and an armed group of people. The details are not in on this one yet.

Once again, here is AFN:

JUST OFF THE PRESS; VEHICLE REPORTED WITH ARMED OCCUPANTS OUTSIDE US CONSULATE IN TJ

I don't want to freak everyone out, but this came over La Frontera at about 9:30PM, I'll give you the link just scroll down to the story, "Provocan Personas Armada Movilizacion En Hipodromo."

Quickie translation:

Apparently around 9:30 PM a report came through of a vehicle with a group of armed people inside of the vehicle just outside the US Consulate, located in the colonia Hippodrome on Calle Tapchula in Tijuana. Mexican State and Federal officials were dispatched to the scene and are looking for the vehicle.

So, that's it, maybe there will be an update later. Just add La Frontera to your favs.

VIOLENCE AT UNIVERSITY WORKERS STRIKE IN MEXICO CITY

I'm assuming that these students are too young to remember Echeverra, and how tragic it is they are being paid off by the government to harrass the strikers instead of supporting them; I think these students would be great candidates for the School Of the Americas. This will be an interesting one to watch:

Mexico: Violence At University Workers Strike In Mexico City

TEXT

Kind of stupid, no? Cryin out loud, give the workers a freakin raise. Ah, the two class system hard at work, so magnanimous. I have to tell you guys, this is an example of another stab in the side of healthy Democracy, just the creation of more bitterness and injustice in these parts, when are they going to learn?

See you later.

MORE VIOLENCE IN TJ AND A LINK TO THE SHADOW CIA

Okay, there has been even more violence in TJ and according to La Frontera, there have been 9 people killed in this city within the past 36 hours:

Continua Ola De Muertos En Tijuana

TEXT

My opinion is that this isn't just about the drugs, it is about a breakdown of the Mexican society due to the totalitarianism and suffering for eons by the Mexican people under a brutal two class system full of inequities and injustices which has worsened in the past ten to twenty years under the thumb of rampant corruption, NAFTA and the Corporates. Sound far fetched? Well, everyone wanted us to believe that Mexico was not really a third world country, but an emerging industrial nation. But what we are really witnessing in Mexico is a complete decline of the emerging middle class and even more brutal slave labor conditions imposed on the Mexican people at large by NAFTA.

Mexico City is scrambling for solutions, i.e. the privitization of Pemex for one; but these sort of goals are only a bandaid approach because the damage to the population at large is so huge and overwhelmingingly in a critical state, it is only going to get worse.

So, you be the judge: You may not like Dr. George Freidman, and I certainly do not agree with many of his positions, but here is link to Stratfor, the private intelligence gathering community which advises the corporates and other high rollers. When you read the breakdown of the social turmoil which is transpiring in Mexico these days, it might just make you want to take a close second look at what is really happening inside of our neighbor to the south.

I want to say one other thing on this matter. How the Latinos in the United States could have, the majority of them, supported Hillary Clinton, whose husband was responsible for the aggravated suffering of the Mexican people is just plain stupidity and selfishness. Shame on them. No wonder I never saw any of them at the anti-war demonstrations, it simply was not important to them.
