- Two more shoot outs with police in Tijuana:
| From Frontera : Shoot out at the Salvador Rosas Magallon bypass/bridge |
- In this case after Police officers stopped a vehicle for review and finds out it is stolen, the driver said he would take the officers to the house of the car's owner in Villas del Campo. When they arrived at the house the officers were met with gunfire. One of the officers is shot in the leg, one of the attackers is killed during the gunbattle and five men are arrested. The officer is in stable condition.
- An armed confrontation at the Salvador Rosas Magallon by pass/bridge of colonia Panamericano leaves one woman shot in the neck. The four people involved in this incident had just robbed a clothing store in colonia Colinas Agua Caliente, La Mesa. Driving a getaway van, they had almost reached the bridge but waiting for them there anticipating their escape route were the authorities. The robbers opened fire on the police, engaging in a gun battle. At this moment it is unclear if the woman who was wounded was shot by someone inside of the van or the police:

- Frontera updates the Rosarito Beach story stating there were two police officers involved (not just one) and they are being detained while it is being determined if or not they shot this man in self defense. The injured man's father said his son was shot five times, hospital officials say he was shot twice. The father also stated that this is not the first time his son has been pulled over by the police, but it is because of his appearance and he suffers from mental problems. Currently he is in serious by stable condition:

- And Antonio Villegas Lujan the PEPO officer shot and killed reported last blog. We had been receiving different versions on this story - one was that the PEPOS were responding to a call for help, when they arrived gunmen opened fire on them - and now the final version that this was an operation against drug dealers. One man was arrested, it is unclear if he was inside or outside of the police unit or if he was cuffed. He lunged at Officer Villegas Lujan, taking his weapon and shooting him then ran into a house and more gunfire was exchanged where he eventually was shot and killed. In this version, there is no mention of other accomplices:

7:45PM: One man shot in colonia rincon Dorado of Cerro Colorado.
Most likely more information on these events tomorrow.
UPDATE/EDIT 02/09: For some reason the Frontera article, "encuentran tres muertos en la tarde del viernes" is not coming up, it's not on their site nor can you pull it up if you type in the title. El Mexicano has not reported these events (yet)...so here it is from AFN with pics :

| From Frontera - The El Pozalero site |
- The search resumes for the missing people of Baja California believed to have been killed then their remains reduced in vats of acid by El Pozolero. Excavations continue at the "La Gallera" in colonia Maclovio Rojoas where cock fights once took place with SEIDO sending twenty experts to locate the skeletal remains, with assistance from CESPT. In the initial search, Frontera reports 800 teeth were found among the remains dissolved in acid. A third well or pila has also been located and the work on the second and third pilas is expected to last for fifteen days. None of this would ever have been possible without the leadership of Fernando Ocegueda Flores, who this time around has expressed he is satisfied with the government's response - he said that despite the government slamming the door in people's faces before, now he finds there are actually good people within the government who are willing and able to help find the missing people of Baja California. He also is urging relatives of lost family members to go to the PGJE offices and give DNA samples so matches can be made and closure can be achieved. BTW, on Frontera in the video section, there is an interview with Fernando Ocegueda Flores:

Hola Maggie,
Just wondering if you have noticed but it seems like a definite decline in coverage in the local media. Big stories sometimes never appear in all the local press and minimum follow up if any, almost like a quota system is in place and I don't think it indicates a decline in these events. Thanks for putting it all together.
Well, I'm not sure. AFN has been picking up Antonio Hera's reports from Mexicali, I just now checked everyone is running the colonia Obrera story from today. For a bit it seemed like El Mex was behind, then the story which vanished from Frontera about the 3 executed a couple of days ago - but that could have been a glitch...their picture on that piece was fuzzy, so that may be why they took it down.
Ugh, I hope there isn't a "quota", I don't think there is - that would be pretty bad.
There are however different details of some of these situations where the police have been shot at, killed or wounded from Zeta...I'll try to get over here tomorrow or the next day and update that.
It's freezing I can't stand it.
