SAN ANTONIO DEL MAR BAJA CALIFORNIA NORTE AMERICAN REAL ESTATE DEVELOPERS IN SAN ANTONIO DEL MAR BUST IN TIJUANA ETC.

Good Morning everyone. We have our hands full here, assisting in the effort against the American Real Estate Developer who has created a nightmare for the residents here at San Antonio Del Mar, will keep you posted on that drama as it develops. I guess - and can only assume - that these rich Americans from Cardiff By the Sea feel that they can ruin the property values of the Mexicans and Americans who live here and get away with it. Oh, that's right, I forgot, up thata way in North San Diego County, Mexicans are mostly viewed as chattel: the maids, the guy who mows the lawn or works like a slave in construction or in the fields, paid under the table and live in the canyons like dogs. In retrospect, perhaps - and we can only assume - that this developer wants to establish a precedent for view blocking decks, then perhaps - and we can only assume - he can tell potential clients, you know, heh you can't be guaranteed a view anymore at San Antonio Del Mar. Then, he directs them to - perhaps and we can only assume - another development which he may be invested in. I don't know, but you never can tell, but that is what folks were saying around here last night. I don't trust American Real Estate developers in Baja, do you? I told you it was like Colonial India here, pretty disgusting.
Maybe later I'll post some pic of these houses I guess you could call them, one with no vent pipes (can't flush the toilets !) no pilas ( we have a serious water problem here, eveyone has a pila!) questionable stability of foundation, concealed cracks which run from the roof to the ground, defections in trim, inability to access the shitty decks unless you go over onto the next door neighbors property (what if your next door neighbor doesn't like you?) inability to even walk around the house, no access, etc., etc. And all for $250,000 !!! Heeheeeheeeeeee. Does anyone think that maybe these guys built these houses, KNOWING they would never sell, just to use as a tax write-off? And, maybe I'll post some pics of Guillermo's wall, which does meet the height requirements and which he does have a permit for, further proof that the developer is full of hot air.
Other news from last evenings meeting, was that the woman who argued with the developer has two witnesses who were in her home when the arguement between her and developer occured, and can back up what she and he both said. So, this basically invalidates the entire statement he made, and I believe these people. This guy has caused so much anxiety and stress for the residents here it is unreal and shameful. I guess if this goes into a lawsuit, it won't matter much what kind pull this developer insinuates that he has with the TJ Planning Department, will it?
Forty some years ago, this place was posh, we would drive by it when we were kids and say, "Wow...that's where the rich people live."(Even though we were happy as clams to have been camping just down the road.) It is true that SADM has grown a bit ragged around the edges, most of the wealthy Americans have left, yet for many of the people at SADM, this is it for them, and for the Mexicans it is an accomplishment to live here and they have been buying homes around here, fixing them up. Simultaneously, American speculators are creeping around like bandits, fencing properties off, checking records to find out who is behind on their taxes, all in an effort to squeeze the last dollar out of this community instead of improving it. Now, everything the Mexicans have worked and strived for, a decent neighborhood for their families, their property values - because the one good thing SADM has going for it, the beautiful views of the Coronado Islands - are in danger of being wiped out because of this American clown, and he does not care.
I will post a copy of their petition when I can get my little hands on it, and submitted a draft to the LA times, we'll see if they go for it. Maybe, who knows, it's a good story, and this time it is the American coming into Mexico causing grief, sort of a reversal of what we always read and hear about. Did he buy off someone at the Tijuana Planning Department? Who else was involved? Who knows, but I guess we'll find out. I will say this, the one thing I have learned about Mexicans is that when they are confronted and threatened, especially over land issues which are sacred to them, they are like silent stealth missles, with their target clearly insight and they are tenacious.
I don't think people like this developer really spend too much time down here, they just hit and run, make a profit of the Mexican's backs, then rush back up to Cardiff to drink champagne in their million dollar palaces served to them by their Mexican maids - taking long showers when they return, because you know, that type of thinking....well, deep down inside, people like that, in my opinion, think Mexico and Mexicans are just so.....dirty. There are Mexicans who like to rub shoulders with his type, because of the money element, but eventually, they get fucked too.
If you grew up during the 50's or 60's, these kinds of speculators and cut throats, we called them "The Ugly American". Nowadays, I think there is a better description:
American Idiots !!!

Richard did respond, via email, so we are still talking.
I have to run up to Santa Barbara again, then have appointments next week with attorney in TJ and doctor in the States. So, don't know how much blogging I'll be doing.
But here's something interesting, and you can make your own minds up. Yesterday I was going to blog this article, but it was to me confusing, and I wanted to wait for more information to come in. I received a comment on this news event which may interest you. I'm not sure what to think, but it is always refreshing to get input from real Mexican people on the events taking place in their Country, sort of gives all of us the feel for what some of them may be thinking:
The comment is published under the blog regarding General Polito:
